Soccer game at Escola das Nações.

A few action shots from our game against School of the Nations. This was an amazing game! We started loosing 1 to zero, but Betuel scored an amazing goal to tie the game. Latter we suffered another goal, but Almaala scored and we were tied 2 to 2 at half-time. On the second half we came back on fire and scored two good goals with Almaala and Omair. We were leading 4 to 2, but in the last minutes School of the Nations rallied back and scored two goals to tie the game. 4 to 4 was the final score. Very exciting game. Way to go Eagles!

Fighting Eagles!

Wow! What a fast paced weekend we had with a basketball tournament at School of the Nations. The tournament started Friday Night and finished Sunday afternoon. Schools in the tournament were the American School (EAB), School of the Nations (EDN), Marista, and Santo Antonio.
The girls played three games on Saturday. Their skills have improved greatly, but were so tired by the end of the night! They took a lot of tumbles and played hard.
The boys had 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. Some of their games were very close. They played hard and kept their spirits up despite some challenges with calls.
We would like to congratulate our boys and girls teams for sacrificing their weekend to play in their first tournament. The drive that these students have shown has been such an inspiration to watch. Let's go Eagles!
Please stay posted for future games!

Contending for the Faith,

April Knutson

Capoeira club ends with grand presentation

We finished our first Capoeira club with a great exhibition where the BIS students played Capoeira with the group "Oficina Cultura e Raízes". Our teacher Aladin and his group once again put on a great show, and we even had a special guest, Mestre Zulu. Zulu is a master of Capoeira and one of the biggest names of Capoeira in Brazil and in the world. We were honored to have him in our "roda de capoeira" and our kids had a great time doing Capoeira with him. Every BIS student that completed the Capoeira club received a certificate at the end of the event. Special thanks for our teacher Aladin for all his hard work and support. We will offer more capoeira clubs in August... : )

3rd - 6th grade Soccer team plays against Corinthians at home

The 3r - 6th grade team finished the season with a great game against Corinthians. The Eagles lost their final game at home, but it turned out to be a great game with many goals from both teams. This concludes the soccer season for this year, but I am sure we'll see more of this team next year. Congratulations to Allan and Tomohiro for scoring the goals for the Ealges!

Recap of the Cup of the Nations

Recap from March 17th...

Today our soccer team played in the "Nations Cup" soccer tournament at the School of the Nations. This was a high level tournament with many schools and soccer clubs. First we played against School of the Nations and second we played against Clube Atlético Paranaense. Both good games, but we lost both and did not qualify for the next round. So BIS will not play any games on Sunday.  The fans will have to wait until our next game (and we will have more games this season).

I would like to thank the parents, teachers and students that came to support and cheer us on. The guys in the team were happy to see all of you and we appreciate you coming to watch us play! Next I want to thank the players for their outstanding effort. Our team played with a lot of heart and great intensity. Our players showed character by playing with passion at all times, regardless of the score or the opponent.  We also improved a great deal from the first game to the second game. I wish we had one more game or at least a few more minutes… every player really stepped up and we were playing some solid soccer towards the end. This team did a great job representing our school and I am very proud of them.

Last I want to thank our God for the safety of our players (we had no major injuries, but our opponents were a LOT bigger than we were, and they played tough). Also thank you God for this opportunity for our team to come together, compete, grow,  and give our best effort in honor of You.

Our goal today was to play for an Audience of One  - to honor God by doing our best with the abilities and talents he has given us. We certainly did so. We've achieved our goal. This is a praise and a win for our soccer program.

Thanks again guys for representing our school and for everything you did today. It was awesome!

Coach Batista.
